Deye 16kW SUN-16K-SG01LP1-EU-AM3-P Single-Phase Low-Voltage Hybrid Inverter
The Deye SUN-16K-SG01LP1-EU-AM3-P is a high-capacity single-phase hybrid inverter designed for large residential, agricultural and selected light-commercial solar systems. It combines 16kW rated AC power, 25.6kW maximum PV input, three MPPT trackers and high-current 40–60V battery support in one flexible energy-management platform.
The inverter coordinates compatible solar panels, battery storage, the grid and a supported generator connection. This allows a properly designed system to improve solar self-consumption, preserve backup energy and manage high single-phase loads within the inverter, battery and site-supply limits.
Updated AM3-P platform
The AM3-P specification expands the solar-input capability associated with this product listing. The datasheet specifies 32kW maximum PV access power and 25.6kW maximum PV input power, together with three MPPT trackers, six PV strings and higher PV input-current capacity.
It also provides two battery inputs, a 10-second off-grid peak-power rating and an updated cabinet specification. These values replace the earlier specifications previously shown for this product.
16kW single-phase output
The inverter delivers 16,000W of rated AC input/output active power and up to 17,600VA apparent power. Rated AC input/output current is 72.8/69.6A and the specified maximum current is 80/76.6A.
The inverter requires a suitably rated single-phase supply, distribution equipment and protection system. The installer must confirm the property’s main breaker, approved grid-connection limit, cable sizes and expected continuous and starting loads before installation.
Strong backup and passthrough capability
Off-grid peak power is specified at twice rated power for 10 seconds. This short-duration capability can assist with compatible starting loads, but it does not increase the inverter’s 16kW continuous rating.
The 100A maximum continuous AC passthrough rating allows the grid to supply connected loads through the inverter when the complete installation is designed for that current. The final essential-load arrangement must remain within the ratings of the inverter, battery bank, cabling and protection equipment.
25.6kW maximum PV input
Deye specifies 32,000W maximum PV access power and 25,600W maximum PV input power for the 16kW model. The additional solar-input allowance can support more daytime generation for direct consumption and battery charging, subject to site conditions and the final array design.
The PV system operates with a 500V maximum input voltage, 125V start-up voltage, 150–425V MPPT range and 370V rated PV input voltage. Every string must stay within the permitted voltage range during the coldest and hottest expected site conditions.
Three MPPT trackers and six PV strings
Three independent MPPT trackers use a 2+2+2 string arrangement. This gives the installer six PV string inputs and greater flexibility when compatible panels must be distributed across separate roof areas or orientations.
Maximum operating PV input current is 36+36+36A, while maximum short-circuit current is 54+54+54A. Module electrical characteristics, parallel-string current and connector ratings must be checked against these limits.
High-current 48V battery support
The 40–60V battery range supports compatible 48V-class lithium-ion or lead-acid battery systems. Maximum charging and discharging current is 290A. Two battery inputs support a suitable battery-bank arrangement where approved by Deye and the battery manufacturer.
For lithium batteries, the charging strategy can adapt to information received from a compatible BMS. Battery model, firmware, CAN or RS485 protocol, current limits, cabling, fuses, isolators and busbars must be confirmed before purchase and commissioning.
Generator support, AC coupling and energy scheduling
The inverter supports storing energy from a compatible diesel generator, giving appropriately engineered installations another method of charging the battery bank. AC coupling can support the retrofit of compatible existing solar equipment into an energy-storage system.
Six programmable charging and discharging time periods allow the owner or installer to manage backup reserve, self-consumption and time-of-use operation. Generator integration and operating schedules must be configured for the particular installation.
Expandable parallel operation
Up to 16 compatible inverters can operate in parallel in approved on-grid or off-grid configurations. Parallel operation requires the correct Deye accessories, firmware, communication, protection, battery capacity and commissioning procedure.
Monitoring, interface and protection
A colour touch LCD provides local operating information and configuration access. Communication interfaces include Wi-Fi, RS485 and CAN for supported monitoring and battery integration.
Integrated protection functions include DC reverse-polarity protection, AC output overcurrent and overvoltage protection, thermal protection, AC short-circuit protection, DC-component monitoring, anti-islanding protection, a DC switch, insulation-impedance detection and residual-current detection. Arc-fault circuit interruption is listed as optional. Type II surge protection is specified on both the DC and AC sides.
Efficiency and operating environment
The inverter reaches 97.6% maximum efficiency, 96.5% European efficiency and more than 99% MPPT efficiency. Actual system efficiency varies with PV voltage, battery conditions, loading, temperature and operating mode.
The IP65 enclosure is designed for installation in a position that meets Deye’s environmental, ventilation and clearance requirements. Intelligent air cooling manages operating temperature. The specified ambient range is -40°C to +60°C with derating above 45°C, permissible humidity is 0–100%, maximum altitude is 3000m and noise is below 55dB.
Dimensions, weight and installation
The 16kW model measures 464 × 763 × 282mm excluding connectors and brackets and weighs 54.1kg. The mounting surface must safely support the inverter and provide suitable working clearances, airflow and service access.
Installation and commissioning must be completed by suitably qualified personnel. The final design must address earthing, overcurrent protection, surge protection, isolation, cable sizing and local grid requirements.
Warranty and standards
Deye specifies a 5-year warranty with up to 10 years available depending on the installation country and applicable warranty policy. Eligibility can depend on the authorised sales channel, installation quality, commissioning, registration and operating environment.
The datasheet lists IEC 61727, IEC 62116, AS 4777.2 and NRS 097 grid regulations, together with IEC/EN 62109-1/-2 safety standards and IEC/EN 61000-6-1/-2/-3/-4 EMC standards. Final approval remains subject to the local network operator, municipality and installed configuration.
