Deye 8kW SUN-8K-SG06LP1-EU-CM3 Hybrid Inverter – Version 3
The Deye SUN-8K-SG06LP1-EU-CM3 is an 8kW single-phase low-voltage hybrid inverter designed for residential and light-commercial solar, battery-backup and energy-management systems. This Version 3 model combines grid-connected solar production, low-voltage battery charging, backup output, generator integration and time-of-use control in one platform.
Its 8,000W rated AC input and output power is supported by up to 12,800W of PV input power, allowing a suitably designed array to produce energy across a broader part of the day. The inverter accepts lead-acid or lithium-ion batteries across a 40-60V range and uses self-adaptive battery-management communication for compatible lithium batteries.
Three MPPT Trackers for More Flexible Solar Design
The Version 3 inverter provides three independent MPPT trackers with a 2+1+1 string arrangement. The maximum operating PV input-current allocation is 36+18+18A, while the maximum short-circuit-current allocation is 54+27+27A. This configuration gives the installer more freedom to separate PV arrays with different roof orientations, tilt angles or shading conditions, subject to correct string-voltage and current design.
The supported MPPT voltage range is 150-425V, the rated PV input voltage is 370V and the start-up voltage is 125V. Maximum PV input voltage is 500V. Every string must remain within the inverter limits under the coldest and hottest expected site conditions.
12.8kW Maximum PV Input Power
The SUN-8K-SG06LP1-EU-CM3 supports 16,000W of maximum PV access power and 12,800W of maximum PV input power. This DC oversizing capacity can help improve daily energy harvest when the array, modules, orientation and local conditions are engineered correctly. The inverter does not deliver more than its specified AC output merely because extra PV capacity is connected, and clipping may occur when available DC power exceeds the inverter’s operating limit.
With a maximum efficiency of 97.6%, Euro efficiency of 96.5% and MPPT efficiency above 99%, the inverter is designed to convert and track available solar energy efficiently across normal operating conditions.
Low-Voltage Battery Compatibility
The inverter works with lead-acid or lithium-ion batteries across a 40-60V battery-voltage range. Maximum charging and discharging current for the 8kW model is 185A. Lithium charging strategy is self-adaptive to the battery-management system when the selected battery, firmware, protocol and communication cable are compatible.
Battery capacity, maximum battery current and the inverter’s programmed limits must be considered together. The installed battery bank must support the required continuous and surge demand, and final settings must follow the battery manufacturer’s operating and warranty requirements.
Backup Output and 70A AC Passthrough
The inverter is rated at 8,000W active power and 8,800VA maximum apparent power. Off-grid peak power is specified at twice rated power for 10 seconds, providing short-duration capacity for compatible loads with higher starting demand. The grid-to-load path supports up to 70A of continuous AC passthrough.
Available backup performance depends on the battery bank, state of charge, programmed reserve, connected loads, cable sizing and protection equipment. High-starting-current appliances must be checked against both the inverter surge rating and the battery’s permitted discharge current.
Generator, AC-Coupling and Time-of-Use Functions
The Deye platform supports storing energy from a diesel generator and offers AC coupling for retrofitting an existing solar system. Six programmable battery charging and discharging periods allow the system to be configured around time-of-use tariffs, planned backup reserves or scheduled self-consumption.
These functions give the system designer several ways to manage solar, battery, grid and generator energy. The final operating mode must be commissioned for the customer’s supply arrangement, essential-load priorities and local electrical requirements.
Parallel Expansion
Up to 16 compatible inverters can operate in parallel for on-grid and off-grid applications, and the product family supports multiple batteries in parallel. Parallel design is not a simple plug-and-play power increase: the inverter versions, firmware, communication, battery architecture, protection devices and distribution equipment must be designed as one coordinated system.
Monitoring, Communication and Protection
A colourful touch LCD provides local system information. Communication interfaces listed for the Version 3 model are Wi-Fi, RS485 and CAN. The inverter integrates DC reverse-polarity protection, AC output overcurrent protection, thermal protection, AC overvoltage protection, output short-circuit protection, DC-component monitoring, anti-islanding protection, DC switching, insulation-impedance detection and residual-current detection. An arc-fault circuit interrupter is listed as optional.
Type II surge protection is specified on both the DC and AC sides. The enclosure has an IP65 rating, while intelligent air cooling manages operating temperature. The specified ambient operating range is -40°C to +60°C, with derating above 45°C.
What Version 3 Improves Over the 2025 8kW Model
The previous 2025 8kW model in the supplied comparison datasheet is the SUN-8K-SG05LP1-EU-SM2. The new SUN-8K-SG06LP1-EU-CM3 retains the same 8kW rated active power, 12.8kW maximum PV input power and published conversion efficiencies, but introduces several practical design improvements.
| Specification | Version 3 SG06 | 2025 SG05 | Customer or installer benefit |
|---|---|---|---|
| MPPT trackers | 3 with 2+1+1 strings | 2 with 2+2 strings | More independent array control for mixed roof orientations or differing solar conditions. |
| PV operating current | 36+18+18A | 26+26A | Higher total published input-current capacity and more flexible allocation across three trackers. |
| PV short-circuit current | 54+27+27A | 34+34A | More current headroom for suitable modern PV string designs, subject to engineering checks. |
| Continuous AC passthrough | 70A | 50A | Higher grid-to-load passthrough capacity where the installation and protection design allow it. |
| Permissible altitude | 3,000m | 2,000m | Supports installations at higher elevations within the published limit. |
| Cabinet size | 340 × 580 × 234mm | 366 × 589.5 × 237mm | A narrower and slightly more compact enclosure. |
| Weight | 24.6kg | 26.8kg | 2.2kg lighter for handling and wall mounting. |
The 8kW SG06 battery current rating is 185A compared with 190A for the 8kW SG05, and its published noise figure is below 45dB compared with below 30dB for the older model. The main upgrade case is therefore the additional MPPT, greater PV input-current flexibility, 70A passthrough, higher permitted altitude, and reduced size and weight.
Physical Installation
The cabinet measures 340 × 580 × 234mm, excluding connectors and brackets, and weighs 24.6kg. The wall and mounting structure must be suitable for the equipment weight and installation clearances. The inverter uses intelligent air cooling and should be positioned to maintain ventilation, accessibility, and protection from unsuitable environmental exposure.
The inverter topology is non-isolated. Rated grid connection is single-phase L+N+PE at 220/230V, with a published voltage range of 0.85Un-1.1Un and frequency ranges of 50Hz at 45-55Hz or 60Hz at 55-65Hz. Installation must comply with local wiring rules, grid-code requirements, and the current Deye installation manual.
Warranty and Standards
The datasheet states a 5-year or 10-year warranty. The applicable warranty period depends on the final installation site and Deye’s current warranty policy. Warranty eligibility may also depend on correct installation, commissioning, approved operating conditions and product registration.
Published grid regulations include IEC 61727, IEC 62116, CEI 0-21, EN 50549, NRS 097, RD 140, UNE 217002, OVE-Richtlinie R25, G99 and VDE-AR-N 4105. Safety and EMC standards include IEC/EN 61000-6-1/2/3/4, IEC/EN 62109-1 and IEC/EN 62109-2. The exact certification required for a project must be confirmed against the installation location and utility requirements.
