Knyee Energy ESS-D-16 16.08kWh LiFePO4 Floor-Standing Battery
The Knyee Energy ESS-D-16 is a 51.2V low-voltage lithium iron phosphate battery developed for residential and suitable light-commercial solar storage, backup-power and energy-management applications. Its 16.08kWh rated capacity and 314Ah nominal capacity provide a substantial energy reserve in a single floor-standing unit, helping households and businesses store solar production for use after sunset, during grid interruptions or when electricity costs are higher.
High-capacity 51.2V energy storage
The battery operates at a nominal 51.2V DC with a specified voltage range of 44V to 58.4V. This makes it suitable for compatible low-voltage hybrid and off-grid inverter systems. Inverter compatibility, communication settings and system design must be confirmed before installation.
A single ESS-D-16 provides 16.08kWh of rated storage capacity. For projects that require more stored energy, the datasheet permits up to 15 parallel battery connections, allowing the storage bank to be expanded as site requirements grow.
Strong charge and discharge capability
Knyee specifies a recommended charging current of 100A and a maximum charging current of 200A. The recommended charging voltage is 58V, with a maximum charging voltage of 58.4V. On discharge, the recommended current is 100A and the maximum current is 200A. These ratings support demanding backup and self-consumption applications when the battery is paired with correctly sized equipment and installed within the manufacturer’s operating limits.
The recommended discharge cut-off voltage and battery cut-off voltage are both 44V, while the listed battery recovery voltage is 48V. Correct inverter and battery-management settings are important for dependable operation and battery protection.
Long-life LiFePO4 technology and integrated protection
The ESS-D-16 uses high-density LiFePO4 battery technology and is rated for 8,000 cycles under the datasheet test condition of 25°C at 80% depth of discharge. LiFePO4 chemistry is well suited to frequent cycling in solar and backup systems.
Integrated protection functions cover temperature, over-current, short-circuit, over-charge, over-discharge and low-voltage conditions. The enclosure also includes a built-in aerosol fire extinguisher. Listed certifications and safety documentation include CE, IEC 62619, UN38.3 and MSDS.
Inverter communication and wireless monitoring
CAN, RS485 and RS232 communication interfaces support integration with compatible inverter and control equipment. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity provide additional communication options, and the datasheet also lists an auto-dialling communication function. Exact monitoring features depend on the final system configuration and compatible equipment.
IP65 floor-standing enclosure
The corrosion-resistant sheet-metal enclosure carries an IP65 protection rating. The unit measures 1008 × 500 × 256.5mm and has a net weight of 124 ± 3kg. Specified operating ranges are -20°C to 60°C for discharge and 0°C to 55°C for charging, with a storage temperature range of -20°C to 45°C. Installation position, ventilation, handling and environmental suitability must be assessed by the installer.
Applications and customer benefits
The ESS-D-16 can form the storage foundation of a solar self-consumption system, a battery-backup solution or a managed energy system. Its large single-unit capacity reduces the number of battery modules needed for higher-capacity installations, while parallel expansion provides a practical path for future growth. The combination of high current capability, multiple communication interfaces and integrated safeguards supports flexible system design.
