The Hinen H12000S 12kW hybrid inverter is designed for demanding single-phase residential and small-commercial energy systems. It brings solar generation, low-voltage battery storage, grid supply, generator integration and backup power together in one intelligent platform.

With three independent MPPT trackers, up to 18kW recommended PV input and a powerful 240A battery interface, the H12000S gives system designers the flexibility to build a substantial solar and storage solution around the property’s real consumption profile.

12kW single-phase hybrid performance

The inverter provides 12kW rated backup output with up to 13.2kW peak output. The grid port is specified for up to 13.2kW AC output and 13.2kVA apparent power, while the maximum AC power drawn from the grid is 18kW. Its 220V/230V single-phase architecture suits properties with a compatible L/N/PE electrical supply.

This capacity makes the inverter suitable for larger homes, home offices and small businesses where several essential circuits must operate together. Final load selection must still account for motor starting currents, heating appliances, battery capability and the site’s approved electrical supply.

Three MPPT trackers and 18kW PV input

The H12000S supports a recommended maximum PV array of 18kW, providing up to 150% PV oversizing relative to its 12kW inverter rating. Three independent MPPT inputs and a 2+1+1 string arrangement allow suitable solar strings to be divided across different roof orientations or array sections.

The maximum PV input voltage is 500V, with a 100V start-up voltage, 370V rated PV voltage and a 100V to 425V MPPT operating range. Maximum PV input current is 28A/16A/16A, with short-circuit current limits of 44A/25A/25A. Professional string design remains essential to keep every input within its voltage and current limits under all weather conditions.

High-current 48V battery support

The inverter operates with compatible 40V to 60V low-voltage batteries and has a rated battery voltage of 48V. It supports up to 240A charging and 240A discharging, with a maximum battery charge/discharge power of 12kW.

This high-current battery interface can recharge suitable storage quickly and provide strong backup performance, but the battery bank, cables, isolators and protection must be sized for the required current. The connected battery’s BMS, approved communication protocol and manufacturer limits always take priority.

Fast backup power

The backup port supplies 12kW rated output, up to 13.2kW peak output and switches to emergency mode in 10ms or less. This helps correctly selected essential circuits remain powered during grid interruptions.

Backup runtime depends on battery capacity, state of charge, reserve settings, inverter efficiency and the connected load. Heavy appliances may need to be managed or excluded to achieve the required backup duration.

Generator-ready energy management

A dedicated generator port supports up to 12kW rated generator input and 13.2kVA apparent power. Dry-contact control can be used for compatible automatic diesel-generator start/stop operation and intelligent load management.

The generator must be correctly sized and configured for the inverter, loads and battery-charging requirements. Generator compatibility, transfer behaviour and conversion time should be confirmed during system design and commissioning.

Off-grid parallel expansion

Up to six H12000S units can support off-grid parallel operation, creating a stated maximum combined output of 72kW. Parallel operation requires a fully engineered design, matching units, approved accessories, compatible firmware and commissioning in accordance with Hinen’s requirements.

The six-unit feature applies to approved off-grid parallel applications and should not be interpreted as automatic approval for grid-connected parallel operation.

Monitoring and maintenance

A 4.3-inch LCD display and app-based monitoring provide convenient access to system information. Communication and monitoring interfaces include RS485, WLAN, Ethernet and CAN.

The external pull-out smart-fan design is intended to simplify maintenance and help extend product service life. Maximum stated acoustic noise is below 50dB.

Protection for demanding installations

The IP65 enclosure supports installation in suitable protected environments. Integrated functions include grid monitoring, DC reverse-polarity protection, AC short-circuit protection, leakage-current protection, a solar DC switch, battery reverse-polarity protection and I-V curve scanning and diagnosis.

Type II surge protection is specified on both the DC and AC sides. External protection, earthing, isolation and switchgear must still be designed and installed according to the site requirements and applicable regulations.

Efficiency, compliance and warranty

The H12000S has a maximum efficiency of 97.8% and a European efficiency of 96.5%. The datasheet lists NRS 097-2-1:2024 Edition 3 together with relevant EN IEC 61000 standards and CB, CE, UKCA, SONCAP, RCM and RoHS certification.

Hinen specifies a five-year product warranty, with an optional ten-year term. Eligibility for an extended warranty may depend on registration, installation, approved battery pairing and the complete Hinen warranty conditions.
