System Architecture and Operating Concept

The GoodWe 56.3kWh HV battery bank is built using a modular stacking architecture consisting of eleven 5.12kWh lithium battery packs. These packs are connected internally to form a high-voltage battery system with a nominal system voltage of approximately 563V.

This architecture allows the battery system to deliver high power with lower current, improving overall system efficiency, reducing cable losses, and enabling safe operation at higher energy capacities. The system is managed through an integrated battery management system that continuously monitors voltage, current, temperature, and state of charge across all battery packs.

 

High-Voltage Lithium Iron Phosphate Technology

The battery system uses lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO₄) cell chemistry, selected for its thermal stability, long cycle life, and inherent safety advantages in high-capacity energy storage applications. This chemistry is well suited to daily cycling in commercial solar systems where reliability and longevity are critical.

The system is designed to deliver up to 100% depth of discharge while maintaining long-term performance, making the majority of the stored energy usable for real-world applications.

The GoodWe BAT Series supports flexible capacity scaling through stackable battery packs. The 56.3kWh configuration represents the maximum capacity within a single battery stack. For larger installations, multiple battery racks can be connected in parallel, allowing total system capacity to scale well beyond 300kWh when required.

This modular approach allows system designers to match battery capacity precisely to site energy requirements while maintaining a consistent platform across projects.

 

Safety, Monitoring and Protection

Safety is a core design principle of the GoodWe HV battery system. Each battery pack is monitored at cell and system level to ensure safe operation under all conditions. Protection functions include over-voltage, under-voltage, over-current, short-circuit, and over-temperature protection.

An optional aerosol-based fire suppression system can be integrated at pack level for enhanced safety in high-energy installations. The system supports intelligent monitoring and status indication via LED indicators and communicates directly with compatible inverters through CAN communication.
