The Sungrow 12kW inverter and 32kWh battery combo gives you a practical foundation for keeping selected circuits supplied when the grid goes down, with solar inputs ready for a properly designed PV array.

At the heart of the bundle is the Sungrow MG12RL inverter, paired with two matching MBL160 low-voltage batteries in parallel. You get 12kW of rated single-phase output and 32.16kWh of combined nominal energy storage in one purchase, making it easier to plan a coordinated backup and solar installation.

Keep the essentials working when the grid stops

Choose the circuits that matter most: lighting, internet equipment, refrigeration, a television or your home-office workspace. With suitable load management, the 12kW inverter can supply several essential appliances together. Backup switching of 4ms or less under typical conditions helps minimise the interruption as the system changes to battery power. Your installer should check appliance starting loads and equipment requirements when designing the backup circuits.

Two batteries, greater storage: Parallel connection combines the two batteries’ energy capacity while keeping the bank at 51.2V nominal. The larger battery bank can support longer backup duration at the same load than one battery, subject to usable energy and system losses. The inverter remains limited to 12kW rated AC output and up to 240A battery charging or discharging. Installation must follow Sungrow requirements for compatible parallel batteries, protection, cabling, communication and current sharing.

More stored energy for evenings and outages

The two MBL160 batteries together offer 32.16kWh of nominal storage, giving you more flexibility to carry selected loads beyond daylight hours. With solar panels added, energy generated during the day can be stored for later use, helping reduce reliance on grid electricity. Actual runtime and savings depend on your loads, available sunlight, system settings and usable battery energy.

For a sense of scale, a steady 1kW load would consume 4kWh over four hours. This is an energy-use example, not a guaranteed backup duration. Your installer can size the usable battery reserve around the appliances and operating hours you need.

Make room for a capable solar array

Three independent MPPT trackers give your installer flexibility when designing compatible panel strings. The MG12RL supports a recommended maximum PV array size of 24,000Wp and a maximum usable PV input of 19,200Wp. These are solar-input figures; the inverter’s rated AC output remains 12kW. Panel selection, string voltage and roof layout must stay within the manufacturer’s limits.

Everyday visibility and a practical battery design

The inverter’s 4.3-inch touchscreen makes system information accessible at the unit, while the battery has its own LCD touchscreen. The MBL160 uses LiFePO4 chemistry and includes voltage, current and temperature protection. Its built-in casters assist positioning during installation. The MG12RL datasheet lists CAN, RS485, Ethernet and WLAN communication for integration and monitoring. Monitoring setup should be confirmed during installation.
