Deye 12kW SUN-12K-SG05LP3-EU-SM2 Three-Phase Hybrid Inverter
The Deye SUN-12K-SG05LP3-EU-SM2 is a 12kW three-phase low-voltage hybrid inverter developed for properties that require solar generation, battery storage and intelligent three-phase energy management in one system. It combines a 40–60V battery platform, 19.2kW maximum PV input power, dual MPPT tracking and flexible grid, generator and backup operation.
This model is suitable for larger homes, farms, workshops, offices and selected light-commercial applications with a three-phase electrical supply. Correct load assessment, PV string design, battery sizing and protection selection remain essential for reliable operation.
Three-phase output with unbalanced-load support
The inverter delivers 12,000W of rated three-phase AC active power and up to 13,200VA apparent power. It supports 100% unbalanced output, with a maximum output of up to 50% of the inverter’s rated power available on an individual phase. This helps the system serve properties where loads are not distributed equally across all three phases.
The 12kW rating applies to the complete inverter. Loads must be distributed and managed within the inverter’s total output, individual-phase capability, connected battery limits and the site’s electrical protection.
High solar-input capacity with dual MPPT tracking
The datasheet specifies up to 24kW of PV access power and 19.2kW maximum PV input power. Two MPPT trackers with a 2+2 string arrangement allow four compatible PV strings to be divided between the trackers, providing flexibility for suitable roof areas or array layouts.
The PV input operates across a 200–650V MPPT range, with a 160V start-up voltage, 550V rated PV input voltage and 800V maximum PV input voltage. Maximum operating current is 26+26A and maximum short-circuit current is 39+39A. Every string must remain within the voltage and current limits under the site’s expected temperature conditions.
240A low-voltage battery performance
The 40–60V battery range supports compatible 48V-class lithium-ion or lead-acid batteries. Maximum charging and discharging current is 240A, allowing the inverter to transfer substantial power when the battery bank, battery-management system, cables, fuses, isolators and busbars are rated for the required current.
For lithium batteries, charging can adapt to BMS information. The battery model, CAN or RS485 protocol, firmware, current limits and Deye compatibility must be confirmed before ordering and commissioning.
Backup power and surge capability
In off-grid operation, the inverter can provide up to twice its rated power for 10 seconds. This short-duration capability can assist with compatible starting loads, but it does not increase the continuous 12kW inverter rating.
The inverter also provides a 45A maximum continuous AC passthrough rating from the grid to the load. The essential-load design must account for the property’s phase currents, inverter output limits, battery discharge capability and the ratings of all protection equipment.
Generator integration and AC coupling
The system supports storing energy from a compatible diesel generator, giving correctly designed installations another source for charging the battery bank. AC coupling can be used to retrofit compatible existing solar generation into an energy-storage system.
Generator sizing, control configuration and connection requirements must be assessed by the system designer. A generator is not included with the inverter.
Time-of-use control and parallel expansion
Six programmable battery charging and discharging periods can be used to manage time-of-use operation, backup reserve and energy self-consumption. The inverter can also operate with up to 10 compatible units in parallel for on-grid or off-grid applications, subject to Deye’s approved accessories, firmware and engineering requirements.
Communication and monitoring options
RS485, RS232 and CAN communication interfaces support compatible battery communication and system integration. Monitoring options listed by Deye include GPRS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 4G and LAN, with some monitoring hardware supplied as optional equipment.
Integrated protection and durable enclosure
Protection functions include DC reverse-polarity protection, AC output overcurrent and overvoltage protection, thermal protection, AC short-circuit protection, DC-component monitoring, anti-islanding protection, insulation-impedance detection, residual-current detection and a DC switch. Arc-fault circuit interruption is listed as optional.
Type II surge protection is specified on both the DC and AC sides. The IP65 enclosure is suitable for an installation position that complies with Deye’s manual, required clearances and environmental limitations.
Efficient operation
The inverter reaches 97.6% maximum efficiency, 97.0% European efficiency and more than 99% MPPT efficiency. Actual operating efficiency depends on PV voltage, loading, battery conditions, temperature and the selected operating mode.
Physical installation requirements
The inverter measures 386 × 660 × 250mm excluding connectors and brackets and weighs 35.2kg. Intelligent air cooling manages heat during operation. The specified ambient range is -40°C to +60°C, with derating above 45°C. Permissible humidity is 0–100%, maximum operating altitude is 3000m and rated noise is no more than 55dB.
A structurally suitable mounting surface, correct working clearances, ventilation and service access must be provided. Installation and commissioning must be completed by suitably qualified personnel.
Warranty and regulatory information
Deye lists a 5-year or 10-year warranty depending on the inverter’s final installation site and the applicable Deye warranty policy. Warranty eligibility may depend on the authorised sales channel, installation, commissioning, registration and operating environment.
The datasheet lists standards and grid regulations including IEC 61727, IEC 62116, EN 50549, NRS 097, G99 and VDE-AR-N 4105, together with IEC/EN 62109 safety standards. Final grid approval is subject to the local network operator, municipality and installed system configuration.
Frequently asked questions
Is this a low-voltage or high-voltage battery inverter?
This model is a low-voltage inverter with a verified 40–60V battery operating range. It is intended for compatible 48V-class battery systems and not high-voltage battery stacks.
How much power can it supply on one phase?
The inverter supports unbalanced three-phase output with up to 50% of its rated power available on an individual phase. The complete inverter remains subject to its 12kW total rated output.
Can 24kW of panels be connected?
The datasheet distinguishes between 24kW maximum PV access power and 19.2kW maximum PV input power. The final array must be engineered within all power, voltage, current and string limits specified by Deye.
Can the inverter work with a generator?
Yes. Deye specifies support for storing energy from a compatible diesel generator. The generator and control arrangement must be sized and configured for the installation.
Are batteries and installation included?
No. This listing is for the inverter only unless a written JC Solar Panels quotation states otherwise.
